THE PROJECT
We are developing a "Retreat Center Spa and Community" that offers its visitors the opportunity to relax, exercise, meditate, eat healthy foods, learn, experience nature and some Pura Vida (Pure Life) of Costa Rica.
Our 66-acre property is located in the hills of San Juanillo, Costa Rica. San Juanillo is a small fishing village in a tropical dry forest ecosysyem, in the middle of Guanacaste province on the Northern Pacific Coast. It is a relatively remote area that has recently begun to attract international residents involved in establishing communities.
Our project encompasses three elements that interact synergisticly.
1. The Retreat Center
2. The Spa
3. The Community Village
THE RETREAT CENTER
The Retreat Center will offer accommodations and facilities to hold learning workshops and activities in approaches that support health and transformation; including healing modalities, meditation, art, and creativity. We are creating a wellness sanctuary, a refuge for relaxation and renewal, a place to nourish one's mind, body and spirit, a place to reconnect with nature, oneself, and others.
THE SPA
The Spa aspect provides a place for physical and spiritual healing and rejuvenation. It also serves as a source of income for the community. Open to all residents and visitors, the Spa offers a chlorine-free pool, massage practitioners, internal cleanses, a sweat lodge, and other healing modalities.
THE COMMUNITY VILLAGE
The Community is a place where some of us will live full time. Others will come for varying periods. The Community recognizes each person's unique form of participation; full-time, part-time, or temporary. We welcome diverse individuals who wish to share their gifts to enrich and participate in the unfolding of the community. We incorporate Permaculture design and principles, natural eco-sensitive building techniques, and materials that demonstrate a sustainable and harmonious relationship with the environment.
WHO WE ARE
We are Cultural Creatives interested in enhancing our lives, living in nature, and participating in diverse workshops and learning experiences. We care deeply about ecology, saving the planet, inter-personal relationships, peace, social justice, self actualization, spirituality and self expression. We are both inner directed and socially concerned. We are activists, volunteers and contributors to good causes. We care intensely about both the most inner and soulful aspects of life and about the big picture of what is happening around the planet.
We are interested in creating and demonstrating ecological, social, economic, and spiritual sustainability. Guided by Permaculture principles we honor diversity of spiritual expressions and traditions, and are committed to healthy social relations: sustainable ecological systems, and living a low-maintenance / high-satisfaction lifestyle.
The foundation of our community is the creation and operation of a Retreat Center and Spa, where will offer a unique variety of retreats, workshops and learning experiences. We are looking for skilled, self-reliant, spirited cultural creatives to join us.
